The Los Angeles Lakers went into Houston Wednesday night and beat the Houston Rockets 93-90. Tracy McGrady went down with an strained right elbow injury and just managed 9 points in 18 minutes. The other Houston star big Yao Ming picked up his game by scoring 26 points and adding 13 boards. Bonzi Wells helped pick it up for the injured McGrady as he put in 21 points and played a game high 40 minutes.
That just wasn’t enough to stop the 4-3 Lakers as Kobe Bryant led his team with 30 points and 8 boards. Derek Fisher added 13 points as well to help the Lakers get a big win on the road. Lamar Odom struggled in his 34 minutes of play going 4-10 and 0-3 from the outside only mustering 10 points. Still the Lakers found away to get the job done on the road and get their record to above 500.
This was a huge win for the Lakers, I know its early but this came at a good time. Kobe helped carry them but it was a big win for them on the road. This will help with their confidence as well because any team that can win on the road, especially in the West, can certainly be a dangerous playoff team down the road.
As for Houston, they seem to be very happy that T-Mac’s injury isn’t long term so he should be listed as day to day. If he stays healthy and Yao can stay out of foul trouble this team can be dangerous but they still have a lot to prove, especially playing in the West.
