The Atlanta Braves are ready to make the playoff push and try to get back into the World Seris. They made a trade today for First Baseman Derrek Lee, from the Chicago Cubs. This was a big time move as Lee has had a pretty good season and adds more power to the Braves lineup.

In other news, the Tampa Bay DRays swept the Texas Rangers and finished it off today with a 8 to 6 victory. Evan Longoria went 3 for 4 and had 4 RBIs to lead the way for the Rays. The Rays ended up out scoring the Rangers 24 to 11 in there 3 game seris. Texas has a lot to do to make some noise in this years playoffs.

Randy Wolf shut down the St Louis Cards as his Brewers won 3 to 2. Wolf pitched 8.1 innings and gave up 3 hits and 1 earned run. He struck out four in the win. Adam Wainwright pitched well for the Cards but didnt get the win. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and gave up all 3 runs. He did strike out 7 batters, but that just wasn’t enough. The Cards have some work to do as well if they are going to make a push towards October.

The Boston Redsox have lost another key player to injury. Center Fielder, Mike Cameron will have season ending surgery to repair a torn abdominal muscle. Just when Boston fans thought it couldn’t get any worse, it does.

The New York Yankees found themselves down 6 to 1 at one point in Texas, going against one of Baseballs best pitchers in Cliff Lee, well that didn’t bother the Yankees one bit. The next few innings the Yankees chipped away at the Rangers lead and Cliff Lee ended up leaving the game in the 6th after giving up 4 runs. The Rangers were still up 6 to 4 but you just had the feeling the Yanks were going to come back, and ofcourse it happened.

It was 6 to 4 in the 8th and the Rangers saw Marcus Thames come to the plate. Mr. Thames ended up just unloading on a ball and last I checked, the thing hasn’t landed yet. That made the game 6 to 5, and that would be the score heading to the 9th inning. Texas then walked Lance Berkman, and then Gardner came up and hit a bloop single. Then there was a wild pitch, and both runners moved to 2nd and 3rd with no outs. Derek Jeter then came up and hit a single right up the gut and scored the run and tied the ball game up at 6. There were still no outs at that point, Nick Swisher finally went down swinging for the first out and guess who came up to the plate? Thats right Mr.Thames, and he ended up ripping one for the game winning run in the 9th inning, as the Yanks took the game 7 to 6.

If your a Yanks fan, you have to be happy about Thames coming through like this. Mark Teixeira was out tonight again, and Thames came through in a big way. Texas could give the Yanks trouble down the road, but they are the Yankees. Texas fans, you had a good seris but honestly your coaching has to get better in order for you to really beat these guys in September and October.
